In the end, it appears that the one true God matters more than anything! When we perceive that death is very close, we seem to quickly abandon all of our attempts to ignore God. All of a sudden, we find ourselves crying out for help and pleas for more time to live. That sort of reality seems easy to ignore up to the point of one’s personal fear of death. And at the time of death we wonder if our life had any real meaning at all!  Meanwhile…

Who is my God – who is your God? The overwhelming majority know and seek the one true God. After all, the other gods just fail to hold any long term interest since they all fail to fulfill all of our needs. He is the one true God – the one Who is always the same – the one who alone can be trusted – the one who completely loves and cares for us.

Who is your god? Is it financial , physical, mental, or control over others? Is it working for you? Have you found a true god in the field of politics, money, personal honor, mental genius, accolades, or the like? Do you have a mentor whose concern for you is more important than his/her concern for him/herself? Who has promised to seek for your good above their own and is actually living it out? Who is paying the cost for your success? Your family or friends or colleagues, perhaps.

Are you a god for someone else or others? Are you sacrificing yourself for their needs or desires? Do you completely satisfy that person’s [or those persons’] need for a true God?

We live in a time when gods are being sought after to satisfy our five senses of touch, taste, hearing, taste, and smell. While the senses can assist us to better lives, they cannot be gods. The media claim that sensory satisfaction is the best god of all yet age alone proves this to be a lie. As we age, the senses fail us one after another. All substitute gods fail us sooner or later and our dependency upon them causes us to harm others especially those we profess to love.

Funny to think about the really important people down through the centuries – long dead, gone and forgotten. Tell me who was he atlhete of some past century and what was his legacy? Tell me who was the greatest leader of another era and what is his legacy? Tell me who was the richest person in another time and what was their legacy/ The only onces with a lasting legacy are the ones whose lives imitated the one true God.

So, if your of a mind to find a true God – one who will guarantee you success in this life and  eternal reward – He is there and always has been. All you have to do is take off your garments of pride and ask Him to take over!
