We are deeply engaged in the primaries leading to 2010 elections. I am convinced that God has relatively little concern whether a nation chooses a particular method of government so long as it’s government seeks to follow His ways and protect the unalienable rights of it’s people. There have been wonderful Kings and even socialistic communities dedicated to God. But God allowed the self-destruction of many nations over time when those governments became overwhelmingly dedicated to evil. Look at biblical and other history which chronicle the horrific systematic destruction of values and life about which God warned us repeatedly.
All along the way, men of government have set aside times and situations in which they ask God to bless their people and nation, Leaders of our nation have followed this example and in large part until recently, these leaders held up His values and His Word.
Now we live in a society in which millions of people tolerate the worst of all evils – the deliberate massacre of innocent children and the deliberate destruction of marriage and the family – and we finally elected a president who does not merely tolerate the massacre but uses the whole power of his office to destroy God’s values, His children, and the family. Our president is not satisfied to sanction the killing of the innocent: he demands this spread of this death across the whole world. God’s Prophets warned Israel about embracing pagan [killing] practices and how Israel would suffer as a consequence.
So we hear leaders – like our president – mouth the oft used phrase: “God Bless America” with melodic voice while they tolerate and spread the death of the innocent millions murdered in their mothers wombs. Are these leaders unaware of what they do? Really? Well, God’s blessings may not always seem like blessings but God knows that His way of blessing includes ending evil practices when a nation engages in them. So we need to ask God for His blessings upon our nation – including suffering when necessary – to end evil regardless of the pain we will all suffer.
We still live in a free country where we can effect the changes needed, yet we as a nation – including Christians, continue to vote for evildoers in office every time elections occur, which makes us at best unwittingly guilty of cooperating with evil in government.
